		<description>Hi Rachel,

Thank you for your comment. Yes, I got on the waiting list and got an invitation about a week later! For some unknown reason, they didn't have any available numbers in the 512 area code so I got a 949 area code. I understand that you can change your number easily so I'll be checking back periodically to see when they have 512 area code numbers.

Follow up and maybe check your spam or junk mail. You may have received an invite for Google Voice and never seen it.

Kind Regards,

Sharon Sutherlin

<description>Thanks for the posting, Sharon. I really enjoy reading your blog! It rocks!

MediaFire.com just has a lot more flexibility than does YouSendIt.com. The best thing about YouSendIt.com is a nifty little plug-in for Outlook that works really well. But you are limited (on the free account only) to monthly upload sizes, a 7 day time frame for download availability, and up to 100 downloads only of your file. MediaFire.com provides the same services without the limitations ... so you can use it like a online storage locker for your larger files. No plug-in at MediaFire as of yet for Outlook.

Today I sent you over some information on Basecamp. It is really the coolest project management software we have found and we are using it for a global launch of a software company currently. We are able to define tasks, milestones, timelines, and upload up to 30MB files. The system then gives you a prompt to notify via email either all the members of your development team or pick and choose the team members you want to have notified. Project organization to the MAX! Link is

<title>Comment on A very short history of Web Development by rperea</title>

<description>I remember the days that everybody was a web designer. The problems came when customers started asking for things that FrontPage just couldn't do.

"Can I have a customer login area?",
"Can I charge for access to that login area?",
"Can I have custom forms?",
"Can I update my website myself?",
"Can this page change automatically on Christmas?"

The list of questions goes on and on.
It didn't take long to weed out the amateurs. Now website development is definitely more specialized and it now takes specialized groups or teams to create a good website.

Now building a website is not unlike building a house. For building a house, you have the architect, the builder, the plumber, the electrician, the roofer, etc.... With a website, you have the designer, the graphic artist, the navigation specialist, the programmer, possibly a coordinator, the database specialist, etc...

The phases of building a website.
1. The goals of the website have to be established.
2. A design has to be made (possibly a mockup) and approved.
3. Navigation and functionality has to be designed.
4. Graphics must be finalized.
5. All the pages and content must be created.
6. All the programming must be done so that the website does what it is supposed to do.
7. It must be tested for functionality, integrity, and stability.
8. It must be checked and tested for security holes and bugs.

Once all that is done, you have yourself a website.

I have worked with Sharon on a number of website projects I would recommend getting your website done through Sharon because she understands all the phases of a website project and is able to coordinate everything for a beautiful result every time.</description>
